Simply put, ASIF KAPADIA is one of the most influential filmmakers of our generation. He is an Academy Award, BAFTA, Grierson and Grammy Award winning film director, writer and producer.

Born in London, his family came to the UK from Gujarat, India in the 60s. His international, bilingual background, mixed with his rich, multicultural working class upbringing motivated him to travel and inspired him to create world cinema. His work blurs genres from drama to documentary across TV, features, shorts and commercials.

Perhaps best known for his acclaimed trilogy of films ‘Amy’, ‘Senna’ and ‘Maradona’ his groundbreaking films work dramatically like fiction films but are constructed entirely from archive footage. Elsewhere his debut fiction feature ‘The Warrior’ won Outstanding British Film of the Year and Special Achievement by a Director. Most recently Asif helmed Creature, a silent film that captures a dance performance choreographed by Akram Khan.

In TV Asif directed episodes of ‘Mindhunter’ for Netflix, directed and exec produced the critical hit music series 1971: The Year Music Changed Everything (AppleTV+) and also co-directed and exec produced the mental health series ‘The Me You Can’t See’ (AppleTV+) starring Oprah, Prince Harry and Lady Gaga.

Between his feature and TV work Asif continues to direct short films and commercials, including work for a number of high profile brands and talent such as United Airlines, BBC, British Airways and ‘The Tale of Thomas Burberry’ for fashion power house Burberry starring Domhnall Gleeson, Lily James, Dominic West and Sienna Miller.
