JOHN OGUNMUYIWA is an award-winning Nigerian-born London-bred filmmaker & photographer who works in both documentary and fiction, signed with magna in North America. His work draws upon a constant questioning of what it means to be normal. Using daily observations as a base, he tends to bring a tinge of surrealism into his work. All with the aim of telling untold stories from a different perspective.
A sterling case in point is his BBC & BFI Network funded short Precious Hair & Beauty, an ode to the mundanity and madness of an inner city shopping district, told through the window of an African hair salon. Precious was given a special commendation the at the BFI London Film Festival and was nominated for the Best Short Film at Sundance both festivals as well as at the British Independent Film Awards.
